This is 100% Barbera dAlba from Piedmont in Northern Italy. It is a fabulous dry, red wine with gorgeous, radiant fruit. It opens to slightly sweet sensations of black cherry, pressed currant, licorice, tar, and tobacco. The fruit is nicely buffered by a persistent vein of minerality. Soft tannins and dark fruit flavors wrap over the palate. The mid-weight finish laced with sweet herbs, spices and licorice rounds things out in style. The wine reveals the generous fullness and roundness that is typical of the Alba appellation. Pair this red with grilled and roast pork, lamb dishes, Italian sausages, and pizzas.
