Full and enveloping with a long, intense finish.Tenuta Cavalier Pepe is situated in the heart of the Avellino province within the municipalities of Luogosano, SantAngelo allEsca, and Taurasiall of which are designated Taurasi DOCG.The estate is spread out across more than 40 hectares, most of which are dedicated to vineyards, with a small portion used to grow olive trees and nuts. The entire property lies on slopes about 350-500 meters above sea level with a south-southeastern exposure. The soils are composed of clay with calcareous and sandy layers. The microclimate is characterized by sunny summers and cold, windy winters due to the high elevation of the vineyards. In the fall, the climate undergoes a sharp change, resulting in slower ripening of the grapes and a later harvest between mid-October and early November. All red wines as well as Coda di Volpe are produced exclusively from Cavalier Pepes own vineyards. The Pepe family manage the vineyards personally, in collaboration with professionals. Yields are controlled by limiting fertilization of the vines and managing the soils, with the main goal being to produce high quality grapes.
