[91 Wine Advocate] The 2011 Breganze Palazzotto is a fantastic wine that gives you a very authentic taste of the estate's top-tier wines, only this bottle costs a third of the price. Palazzotto is a pure expression of Cabernet Sauvignon (aged 12 months in both used and new barrique) that tastes especially soft and decadent in the warm 2011 vintage. The rich bouquet pulls back to reveal pressed blackberry, cherry preserves and a mixed bag of spices. There is a drying mineral note as well, but it is not as pronounced as in the 2010 vintage (29th Dec 2014)[90 James Suckling] A red with soft tannins and lots of chocolate, walnut and currant character. Full body and a savory, juicy finish. Better in 2016 (26 April 2015)Winery's Notes: Maculan's Palazzotto is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in the best, low-yielding vineyards and aged in French barriques for one year. The name of the wine comes from the name of the area, or localit, where the grapes are sourced for this wine.Opaque ruby-red in color, this wine is richly aromatic with notes of dark berries, anise, black pepper and just a touch of garrigue or Mediterranean herbs that has become a hallmark note of Maculan's wines. This is a dry, full-bodied red that is at once elegant and intense. It is bottled unrefined and unfiltered to capture every bit of aroma and flavor that the grapes have to offer.
