The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva reveals impressive richness in its wild cherries, sweet herbs, spices, minerals and tobacco that meld with a high-toned bouquet. This gorgeous, medium to full-bodied Brunello blossoms on the palate as intricate layers of fruit continue to emerge with a wonderful classiness. The long, harmonious finish leaves a lasting impression. This is a terrific effort from Costanti. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029. 94 points from Robert Parker, The Wine AdvocateWinery Notes: The noble Costanti family goes back a long way at least to the fifteenth century. One of several famous counts, Tito Costanti was a lawyer and winemaker, and was actually one of the very first to use the name Brunello for the infamous Montalcino red. But the methods he used were strikingly similar to those used for Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino today. At present, the sole living descendant of the Sienese family, Andrea Costanti, carries the torch, enhancing the familys reputation for making top wines with great innovation. His aim has always been to create elegant, complex and long-lasting wines that bring out the best of the terroir.
