[90 pts Robert Parkers Wine Advocate] The Chianti Colli Senesi appellation rarely gets attention, but this wine should prompt a second look. The 2011 Chianti Colli Senesi Riserva is 90% Sangiovese with tiny parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is fermented in steel for a fresh and fruit forward approach and is later aged in large oak casks for a slow aging evolution. You really feel the Cabernet Sauvignon component in the warm 2011 vintage. The structure is firm and the wine is redolent of dark fruit and spice (Oct 2015)[86 pts James Suckling] Some berry, meat and cedar character. Medium body. Juicy. Drink now (Oct 2014)This has an intense ruby red color with slight purplish highlights. The bouquet is lively with aromas like blueberry, anise, earthy mineral, and toasty oak. This very approachable wine shows relzed tannins, fine acidity, and firm structure. The finish is lengthy with aromatic hints of wild cherry and subtle vanilla. This wine is 90% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet.
