Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a well defined and quite earthy bouquet, plenty of sous-bois character here, gently unfolding in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit, fine tannins and a harmonious, caressing finish that demonstrates assiduous use of new oak.
