[93 James Suckling] A brambly and bright red fruited grenache that has very attractive purity and effortless appeal, raspberry, dried leaves and herbs, some light spices also in the mix. The palate has assertive drying tannins, plenty of liquorice flavor amid bright raspberry amid red cherry fruits, gently drying finish (Feb 2016)[90 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate] Medium ruby/purple, the 2013 Grenache Old Vine has intense aroms of red and black cherries, black raspberries and anise with pepper, violets and meaty accents. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, the palate has chewy tannins with plenty of backbone, racy acid and a very long finish (Aug 2015)Winemaker's Notes: "This wine continues the evolution of the Old Vines style but with a little more finesse on one hand, and a little more boldness and authority on the other. The slightly bitter wild black cherry and the more polite pickled Morello are even more to the fore. Check those fine, drawn-out, tapering tannins with their savoury hits of bay leaf and juniper. All these aspects combined in such forensic proportion make it a wine that will grow, smooth and bloom if you can possibly put some away for five or ten years." - Peter Fraser, Winemaker
