[89 Wine Advocate] The 2014 Gran Reserva Malbec feels riper and with more evident oak. The grapes are also sourced from their La Esperanza estate in Vista Flores, Valle de Uco, at some 1,200 meters altitude, but 2014 was a warmer year and it shows. At the same time, the wine matured for one year in 70% new barrels and that is even more noticeable, especially in the palate. I'd say the oak is less evident than in the 2011 that I tasted last time, so it seems like they are moderating the effect of the levage (30th Dec 2016)Winery's Notes: Aromas of red plums, morello cherries, figs, dried apricots and a delicate perfume of violets harmonise with its oak ageing, that provides elegant notes of vanilla, chocolate, toast and caramel. A full-bodied wine of great structure and concentration. Excellent balance between acidity and rounded, ripe tannins. Pleasant and lingering finish. Pair with succulent and spiced red meats.
