The estates Villa Giona bottling is produced in a vineyard which the family felt was better suited to international rather than indigenous varietals. The 2003 Villa Giona (50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 10% Syrah) is packed with dark fruit, black pepper, herbs, earthiness, leather and coffee beans. It offers excellent length although the tannins could use a little more polish.
